Multi-Dimensional Data Sets

Multi-Dimensional Data Sets contain grayscale image frames recorded as a combination of time lapses, Z-stacks at multiple wavelengths (or channels), and at multiple stage positions.

Image Analyst MKII supports to following multi-dimensional data sets:

  • MetaMorph Multi-Dimensional Acquisition (*.nd files)
  • MetaFluor (*.inf files) can be opened as Multi-Dimensional Open. This allows control over the number of frames or wavelengths to open.
  • Nikon Elements N-dimensional Acquisition (*.nd2 files)
  • Zeiss LSM Multi Time Lapse (set of *.lsm files; currently lsm files are opened individually not from the Multi-Dimensional Open Dialog)
  • Other file formats opened by Bio-Formats, including Leica *.lif and Zeiss *.czi files.

Image Analyst MKII was designed to work with time lapses of two-dimensional images (x,y,t data). Therefore x,y,z,t data sets are opened Z-projected. Z-projection is performed during loading. The way (minimum, maximum, mean, or median) of projection is set in the Multi-Dimensional Open Dialog (*.nd or *.nd2 files and for Bio-Formats) or in the Preferences Dialog for *.lsm files.

Multi-Dimensional Data Sets allow automated processing some or all stage positions using pipelines.

See details in the Multi-Dimensional Open Dialog.

Open from the Multi-Dimensional Open Dialog results one or more Image Windows.

Pipelines can operate with multiple Multi-Dimensional Data Sets by referring to each data set by the tag of the opening Multi-Dimensional Open Dialog.
